In the 22 years of operating the business, our approach has been different than the traditional used bookshop. We've tried to keep things simple; in our décor, atmosphere and strategy. Many places will sink great capital into their furnishings, such as their bookshelves and counters and all the décor that goes with it. These make for fine surroundings, no doubt, but there's always a cost involved, and it invariably gets passed down to the consumer. We're not ashamed to admit that we aren't the fanciest looking store around, by any means. Up until this year, the majority of our bookshelves were made from simple yard pine, assembled in large quantities, and slapped back to back along the walls, and draped endlessly throughout the center of the room. And despite our recent replacement and upgrading of our centre shelving to newer prefab modern shelving, we've succeeded in minimizing the cost of these new acquisitions, so as not to affect the cost passed down to you, the consumer.

Also, our front desk in the old store was a makeshift wooden slab for a counter, and in the new store, a few arborite covered, almost art deco style pieces we got from storage. Even from day one, we've attempted to be the type of bookshop that is high volume, high turnover, and low prices. On almost all our products, you'll find them cheaper than the competition. We believe that our success lies in this approach. The new store is more expensive to run, without a doubt, and prices have sometimes adjusted to a certain extent, but our goal is still to remain to be the best deal in town. We think you'll agree!

POLICIES:

10 DAY GUARANTEE: All store sales are final except when buying audio/ visual merchandise, such as videos and DVD's. We guarantee the condition of the product for a period of 10 days. In the rare occasion when the product is defective, that is, if there is anything wrong with the working condition of the item, it is fully exchangeable. This does not mean a cash refund, but an exchange for other merchandise. Please feel free to call us if you have any questions regarding this policy.

HOLDING ITEMS:
We are more than happy to hold items you wish to purchase, for up to a week from the day you reserve it. No deposit is required, but if you fail to pick it up within the week, the merchandise will be returned to the shelves. In certain circumstances, there are exceptions to this rule. Sometimes the audio / visual products we limit to 3 days, especially DVD's, or large quantities of videos, or if it's a number of recent releases. We reserve the right to make a judgment call in these situations.

DISCOUNTS:
We often get asked if we can give a discount on purchases that you wish to make. Under certain circumstances, we can allow this. If you are buying over $50 worth of ½ cover paperbacks (especially newer ones which have high cover prices), or hardcovers and videos amounting to over $100, then usually under most circumstances, you can get 10% off your purchase. (Much larger purchases can achieve a better discount, too!) Certain restrictions apply, and we must reserve the right to make these offers. Since much of our merchandise tends to be less expensive than elsewhere, circumstances dictate when these discounts can apply. We certainly want to encourage larger purchases and will endeavor to give you a better deal whenever possible.

ANTIQUE COLLECTIBLE BOOKS
We are selling select antique collectable books selling online at www.abebooks.com. These items are on display in glass cabinets in the store. If you purchase one of the ABE books in the store itself, you can get the U.S. price at par (a 15% savings)
